Things I love for the Summer Season

I love the Summer months here in New York.  Yes sometimes they get really hot, but it’s nice to have fun things in your yard or space to make that a little better.  I’m lovin’ turquoise and lime green right now, so I’m sorry if there is an over load of those colors in this post.  I’m really inspired by these colors. They remind me of seaglass and I love seaglass.  So let’s take a look at all the fun, colorful things I have posted here today.  I tried for the most part to keep it on a budget, the way that I would shop if I was buying these for my house right now.  I might have to go and buy some of these products after I’m finished posting this today.  πŸ˜‰

Let the inspiration begin!!!

These are melamine plates which means they are plastic and you can bring them outside.  Kid friendly.  But make sure you read the bottom of them first to make sure if they are dishwasher safe or not.  The ones I already have at home, are not safe for the dishwasher.

What kid or adult wouldn’t love drinking out of this kind of glass.  So fun!!!  I would feel like I was on vacation.  πŸ˜‰

These are my favorite plastic cups so far.  I adore the color and texture so much.  I might just have to go and get these.

Love the pretty soft colors in this pillow.
Pier 1 for $24 {indoors/outdoors}

Love the seaglass colors for these paper lanterns.  I think I might have to get these for my gazebo this year.
Pier 1 for $12.95 for a set of three

Pier 1 even has the LED light kit for the paper lanterns for only $6 each.

These synthetic wicker baskets are a great pop of color on your outdoor table.
Pier 1 for $14.95 & $17.95

This chair from Pier 1 is really giving me an awesome idea for my boring white resin chairs that always look dirty.  I think I’m going to buy some Peacock Blue spray paint and get my spray on.  This chair is $79.95 and is WAY out of my price range, so if I can find the right color in spray paint, I’m going to go for it and transform my boring white plastic chairs into pretty looking teal blue chairs instead.

I would love to add an apple green pillow to the turquoise chairs even.  I LOVE these colors together right now.  So calming, so fresh!!!

Oh-my-gosh….I really want these.  How cute are these?
Pier 1 for only $13.95 each.

Here is some inspiration for your outdoor area this season.  Take the whole idea or just bits & pieces of the inspiration and make it your own.  Find the colors you love for your outdoor space to make it fun or calming.  You don’t have to have a big space to make it fun or calming.  Just add some color, some place to sit and maybe even some place to put your drink and you have an outdoor space.

Inspiration picture from Crate and Barrel.  Sunbrella splip covers that are machine washable.  WAY out of my price range for outdoor furniture, but oh-my-gosh, this set is gorgeous!!!

Yet another inspiration from Crate and Barrel.  More Sunbrella covers on the cushions.  I love the gray with the pop of purple, which they call Phlox.

More inspiration from Crate and Barrel.  Yes please!!!  I would love to relax on this covered deck.  Love all the blues and greens.

Check out this gorgeous deck/patio with a purple ceiling and gorgeous curtains from ceiling to floor. {via decorpad.com}

Love the light blue with pops of orange.  Fun and calming all at the same time I think.  {via decorpad.com}

I would be happy with one chair and one ottoman from this picture on a small balcony.  Maybe a little table too and I would be all set.

IDEAS

Bring new life to your backyard/patio/deck/porch with some new color.  Add new pillows, an outdoor rug, maybe some sheer curtains in white to make the area soft and maybe some colorful plants and you will fall in love all over again with your outdoor space.  Make it your happy place.

If you have gazebo’s similar to these

You could make it look similar to these, just by adding your own white sheers or even outdoor drapes.  Just take the netting off that comes with the gazebo or tie it back with the new white sheers that you add for a layered look.  Buy something that can be washed.

Here is a pop-up gazebo with white curtains, paper lanterns, some outdoor furniture added and you have one really relaxing area to come and sit at.  Love this.  This is actually an Ikea gazebo.

Check out all of these great Ikea {United Kingdom} ideas.  Patio’s, decks, small balconies even.  Thank you Ikea for always having just the right thing, for just the right area, for just the right price.

Even if you have a Pergola like this, you can add curtains or sheers by the columns to make things softer.  Add a rug or two, pillows, lights, etc.  In this set up you can have one area be your casual sitting area with couches and chairs and then the other area for dining.  Two spaces in one.

This post has given me inspiration for my own backyard.  I want more from my backyard.  I want calm, I want color, I want to have a party and have fun.  OK, who is with me?

    Hi Jen!
    I don't have pictures right now, but I do have a question. I have a shared driveway with my neighbor. This means our backyards are open to one another. We can't close off our yard without blocking use of the driveway. He is a single guy who works a lot and his yard is… well not the nicest to look at. Any ideas on how to make our space more private and closed off so I don't have to look at his yard every time I am in mine? Thanks!
