Inspirational Eye Candy – Outdoor Spaces with Sunbrella

Oh Sunbrella, how I love thee.  You have to check out all the great stuff that Sunbrella pins on Pinterest.  I hope that when we redo our Sunroom that we can have some Sunbrella fabrics so that I don’t have to worry about anything getting wet.  😉
Let’s take a look at some of what Sunbrella has to offer.
Hello color!  Such an inviting area to sit.  Love all the pops of color.

I love that this furniture has Sunbrella slip covers over it to protect it from the elements.  And I really love turquoise & white together.

Lee Industries furniture with Sunbrella fabrics

White Sunbrella fabric was used even indoors.  What more could you ask for from a white fabric.  Waterproof and you can just wipe it off.  Nice!!!

Sunbrella Drapery.  So classy looking.  I might have to save my pennies for some of these draperies.

I love that you can use Sunbrella fabric indoors too.  Long lasting fabric even in the home.

Black & White shade system made with Sunbrella fabric.  What a gorgeous outdoor space.

Love these Nautical ideas that Sunbrella pinned on Pinterest.  They might not have their fabric in these pictures, but I love the nautical inspiration.

Buoys are so awesome with all of their colors.  So vibrant.  A nice collection of these would look awesome on the side of a shed in your yard.  Whether that shed was near water or not, it would still look awesome.  😉

Now that is what I call a cooler.  Wouldn’t that be awesome for a huge BBQ in your yard or at a private beach.

Sitting poolside!!!  Looks so relaxing.

I need this house.  Oh My Gosh!!!  I would never leave that outdoor area.  {sigh}

Who wouldn’t love to do this at the beach?  So cool!!!

Charming outdoor dining.  So cute.

Let’s check out some of the fabrics that Sunbrella has to offer, because there are some really gorgeous patterns.  You can check out all of their fabrics here.

Here is some of their fabrics that I love.  What awesome colors they have.  Can you tell I love blues and greens?  haha.  They have many colors to choose from, these were just the ones that I loved.

I had to add this one.  It is made by an Etsy vendor out of Sunbrella material.  How cool is that?  Love this color as well.  Color is Rust.  This bag is waterproof.  Love the ruffles.

Thanks Sunbrella for giving us such awesome inspiration on your Pinterest boards.

Thanks for stopping by everyone.  Have a great day!!!  :)

*Note:  I was not perked in anyway by Sunbrella for this review.  Just love what I see and I would love to use their fabrics one day.

Making Your Outdoor Space….Yours

Last week when I posted about the Things I love for the Summer Season, I put it out there that I would help some of you out with your outdoor spaces if you wanted some ideas.  Well two lovely ladies asked for my help and here is how it went down.

First Maxine commented:

Hi Jen!  I don’t have pictures right now, but I do have a question. I have a shared driveway with my neighbor. This means our backyards are open to one another. We can’t close off our yard without blocking use of the driveway. He is a single guy who works a lot and his yard is… well not the nicest to look at. Any ideas on how to make our space more private and closed off so I don’t have to look at his yard every time I am in mine? Thanks!
Maxine, that is a great question.  The first thing that comes to my mind is if you have or if you can fit a gazebo in your yard, I would put up some sheers on the gazebo and keep them closed on that one side of your yard.  This way you have some privacy and you will not really “see” the not so kept neighbors backyard.  Let’s look at some options for your yard.

I absolutely love this idea.  OK, you might not like Lime Green, but they have different colors.  It just ties onto your gazebo.  You could leave one side down that looks towards the neighbors yard and you won’t see as much of their yard.

Let’s look at a few other colors and options.
These curtains are a lot thicker and would “hide” more.  These are grommet  top curtains, so you would have to have the right gazebo to use this type of curtain.  Great neutral color gray is and you could accessorize it with any color you want.  😉

Or you could buy a gazebo like this that comes with solid panel sides and mosquito netting also.  You could drop just one side of the solid panel and then you would have full privacy on that driveway side.

Oh my gosh, check out this cute Cabana.  Love it.  This one is 8.5 x 8.5 x8 feet.  It’s kind of small.  Sorry I’m not sure of the size of your area.  I can see some pretty tropical plants in nice planters around this cabana and all of this would distract from your neighbors property for sure.

Adding some taller planters with tall plants will give you something else to look at besides your neighbors yard.  😉

Another great idea are “privacy planters”.  I have these in our yard, but we use them to hide things in our yard like our gas meter.  We weighed ours down with rocks on the bottom and then soil on top so that they don’t blow over.

When you get the chance, I would still love to see pictures of your outdoor space Maxine and see if we can come up with anything else to help you out.  I hope one of these ideas will work in your space.  Have a great summer!!!  :)

Then Susan sent me an email with lots of pictures of her front and backyard and she wishes just for a little help to make her property look a little nicer.  It’s a well kept property, but it just needs a little pop of color and maybe some new paint.  Seriously Susan, you have a great backyard to hang out in and entertain in.

Let’s take a look at the pictures Susan sent me.  Isn’t it a cute house?  Nice private backyard for sure.  Love the enclosed porch as well.  Let’s see what we can do with all of this now.  It doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money no matter how big or small your property is.  Adding a little color can go a long way.  You don’t have to completely start over again.  Sometimes you just need to take some stuff away or add some other things or even just paint something to make your space look new to you and some place that you will enjoy coming to time after time.

{sorry for the extra large pictures, but I just wanted
everyone to see the details}

Front Yard – Before

Front Yard – After

I just added some yellow & red clip art flowers to the pictures to show Susan what a little color can do for the front yard.  I love it.  I hope Susan loves it too.

Side Yard

Susan I think if you repainted the stairs in a dark grey and paint the screened in porches trim, inside and outside in a light grey, it would give a whole new look to that area of your home.  I would paint the outer screen doors the same grey as the trim and then paint your inner door to your home the same gray.  I love how grey looks with the terracotta bricks and the roofing on your home.  You could even paint the black wrought iron rails white to go with the house color.  Add some more of the yellow and red flowers next to the stairs on each side and it would really brighten this area up.

Screened Porch

I love screened in porches.  If you would like my two cents about it, I would move the wrought iron table and chair set in there and only keep the two white Adirondack chairs.  Place the wrought iron set where you have the two tables and then the Adirondack chairs to the left of your inner house door.  Put down a colorful indoor/outdoor rug under the table, add some decor and even a potted plant or two inside and it would feel so comfortable and casual.  Add some pops of Turquoise to the area inside and out.

And if you want to take it one step further, I would paint the outdoor bench a darker grey then the trim on the porch, to bring everything together.

Backyard Before

Backyard After

 Like I had said earlier, I would bring the wrought iron table set into the porch.  In the back of your yard you would have an area to go to sit and relax.  Buy a gazebo and some deep seating.  Add pops of Turquoise in some planting urns with flowers if you want and if you want to add some more red and yellow flowers around the garden bed areas…it would really finish things off nicely.  {I really need to learn Photoshop Elements so these pictures could come out even better. haha}

Where I got my inspiration from…I did a Google search for Italy because you said you had Italian influences inside your home.  You seem like a tradition type of person, so I wanted to bring the inside of your home outside too.  You can use these colors in darker saturation if you like that better.

In this picture I loved that all of the backdrop that was in green just like your backyard, but look how this yard came to life with some color.  Terracotta, Turquoise, Red, little bit of Yellow in some plants, Blue and the Grey of the pavers around the pool.

I really love how all of these colors work so well together in all of these inspiration pictures.  I hope I have given you a different look at your outdoor spaces.  If you have any questions, please let me know, because I would love to talk more if you have the time.

So what does everyone think about the ideas that I gave Maxine & Susan?  Love them?  Does anyone have these same problems in their yards?  What did you do in your outdoor space to make some changes?

So if anyone else would still like some help with their property, please leave a comment or send me an email at

Thanks for stopping by everyone!!!  Have a great day!!!  :)

Mood Board for Our Sunroom

After posting about my Sunroom tour the other day {you can check out the details on our Sunroom here}, I really wanted to put together a Mood Board for the room.  I’m not sure if I will buy these exact pieces and I’m not sure if we will be able to get to this project completed this year, but it’s always fun to be able to look at the things you would like to have and maybe find a better deal down the road anyway.  😉   I just love looking at the eye candy in the mean time.

So in this Mood Board, most everything is from Pier 1.  The ceramic stool & the flooring are not.  I love what Pier 1 carries, but I don’t always love their prices.  So I’m going to keep an eye on this stuff and maybe if I hit the right sale at the right time, I can get what I want for less.  Or we might try to buy wicker furniture off of Craigslist or from a garage sale and spray paint it the color that we want.  These are just all ideas now, a little bit of inspiration for the room.  I saw most of this in person already.  I was in Pier 1 last week.  I love looking…..well I bought a platter holder for my counter top…..but I really wanted to buy all of this stuff.  😉

OK, now let’s look at the details of this Mood Board.
  • First let’s check out the great color that would be on the walls.  The walls will be wainscoting, hopefully PVC wainscoting.  We have seen it at Home Depot already, but I haven’t looked to see if they carry it at Lowe’s or not.  It was about $42 per pack.  Anyway onto the color on the walls,  it’s Valspar Evening Stroll.  It’s blue/green in color.  It might not be the color I go with, but I do like it.
  • The settee & chair are hand-woven out of banana bark and mahogany. They seem very well constructed and seem like they would last long and wouldn’t sag in the seat area.
  • The outdoor rug is a little too expensive, but I liked the design.  I will shop around for either 1 or 2 outdoor rugs OR I might just reuse the two that I already have in the Sunroom.  I’m not certain what I want to do yet.  I’m not in love with the ones I have.  They have palm leaves on them and are beige.  {you can see the pattern in the picture below}
  • As for the cushions, they-are-gorgeous-in-person!!!  Let’s get a closer look at the cushion design.  They have a very luxurious look to them.  Though I’m sure I could find something similar at HomeGoods for a lot less.
  • The hanging lanterns are just too cute.  I would hang them in one of the corners.  Probably the corner that I can see from our Living Room, so I could enjoy them year round.
  • The table & chairs are really cute, but I’m not sure whether I want white or a dark brown color.  We will see what I find.  Hopefully something I can repurpose to keep costs down.
  • The flooring is a vinyl water resistant plank look by TrafficMaster Allure.  We used it in our Laundry Room and I think we might use it in the Sunroom as well.  The room might not always be 100% waterproof, so this would be a good flooring to put down so we can close up the gaps in the wood deck flooring that is there now.  We have some work to do to close up gaps in the flooring and on the walls, but I think we will be good once we are done with the room.  We could even buy a small heater for the room and get more use out of it in the late Fall or even when family is over for Christmas.  😉

Here is the ceramic stool that I already bought from HomeGoods a few weeks ago and lives in the Sunroom already and I only paid $35 for it, so I have already saved myself some money from what I had showed you in the Mood Board.
You can check out my first post ever on my blog to see more ideas for sunrooms or outdoor spaces.  Link.
So there you have it our Mood Board or Inspirational Eye Candy for our Sunroom.  Anyone redecorating their Sunroom, porch or outdoor space?  Let’s here about it….leave a link in the comment section if you want.  I would love to see what others are doing to make their outdoor spaces more like home.

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Have a great day! I would love to hear your comments, so please leave one if you want. I love sharing and inspiring others, but I also love feed back and sharing of others ideas and thoughts. :)

Inspirational Eye Candy – Outdoor Rooms

I’m really feeling the Spring season lately, so I figured I would post some beautiful inspiration pictures so we can all get some ideas for the Spring/Summer seasons.  You can also check out this post for some more ideas.
This is a beautiful sun room.  It’s like the outdoors are indoors in this home.  So relaxing!!!  Love the green and brown together.

What a great porch!  Dining space and seating space.  It’s awesome to have your Dining Room and Living Room outside too.
Here is a closer look at the seating area that was in the background of the above picture.
Now that is a deck, well decks, I could relax on.  I love the slate blue that they used.  It goes so beautifully with the light yellow pillows and the light color house.  This picture just screams “come on outside and relax the whole day with no worries in the world”.  Well that is what it says to me.
Here we have Rust Red and Brown accessories.  All those pillows and all of those couches.  What a great entertaining space.  I dining area in the background with an umbrella for shade.  Checkout the awesome wood ceiling.
Now this is pool side seating at it’s best.  I would never leave.  White never looked so good…..with the wood decking and the blue water.  Simple yet very relaxing.
Nice comfortable backyard with seating and dining areas.  Brick Red with Sage accents.
Love the dark wicker with the lime green accents.  And the cute doggies in the background.  Nice touch.
What a great cover deck.  We are doing to be doing something similar with our cover patio area.  I want to put up some outdoor curtains to soften things up and I also want to paint the wood white on the ceiling.  Upstairs from or cover patio is our Sun Room that isn’t done yet, but that will be an on going project to pull that room together.
Check out the wicker color on the seating area set…..a nice blue green….To go with the gorgeous water in the background I’m sure.
Now who says you can’t have fun with “Pink” outside.  I love this outdoor space.  White with pink accents.  Love it.  Girlie, yet sophisticated and relaxing.
One more pink & white inspiration.  Gorgeous!
I always shop around for my outdoor furniture and accessories.  I know some stuff can be expensive, but waiting to the end of the season for sales on furniture is always a great idea.  I always check out Target, Kmart, Walmart, Pier 1, JCPenny, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Home Goods, for outdoor furniture or accessories.
I hope this has inspired you in some way.  I know I’m ready to start BBQing and sitting outside relaxing.  I can’t wait to really enjoy our backyard this year.  We still have a little bit of work to do…..planting, but we are almost done.  Stay tuned for our outdoor project.  It took us a while to get to this point, but we are loving our yard now.  Can’t wait to share pictures with you.
Thanks for stopping by.  I would love to hear from you, so please leave me a message.  Have a great day everyone!!!
