Little Girls Playroom Moodboard

My sister-in-law {SIL} needed some inspiration now for my two nieces playroom.  She needs to keep it light and bright because it’s in the basement and there are no windows.  You can check out the moodboard I did for her, for her master bedroom here – Bedroom Moodboard.  It’s a Bora-Bora inspired moodboard.  Anyway, back to the playroom.  My SIL sent me some inspiration pictures she found on Pinterest.
This inspiration picture was the perfect jumping off point.  All the colors she wanted, pink, purple & aqua.  It’s a light & bright room with lots of storage.

She is thinking about turning her girls table into this Tulle Skirt inspired table for the girls.  How super cute is this?  I’m in love with it.

So on my SIL’s list was flooring, aqua wall color, storage for the girls toys {they are 2 yrs old & 4 months old},  chairs, a rug, lighting, a double sided easel for both girls to play with {which as a good Aunt & Uncle, we bought one for their 2 yr olds birthday}, and maybe a mirror.  She already has the pink chaise, a table & Cinderalla’s toy box.  I through in the tissue paper pom poms for some added decor in the corner of the room.

So what do you think of this very girlie playroom?  Do you love the colors?  What colors are in your childs playroom?  What kind of storage you do have for them?  Leave a comment or a link to your blog post in the comment area so we can all share.
More Inspiration for Playrooms
Since I was on Pinterest the other day, I looked for some other inspiration for all different kinds of playrooms.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
You can follow my Pinterest “Playroom” board here.

What a great playroom this is.  You have storage everywhere, seating, entertainment & even some clothes storage.  Any child could spend hours in a room like this.  You could easily turn an attic into a great playroom like this.

This playroom nook area is just so cute.  It seems to be right off of the Family Room or Living Room.  They can play, read, maybe even nap in there if there was more pillows on the floor for comfort.  Look at all of that great storage on both walls.  Great way for them to have their own space, but be right there with the family.
This playroom had me at hello!!!  Light, bright, great storage, picnic table repurposed it looks like & pillows to sit on the floor.  Looks like there might even be a great little reading nook in the corner.
Now this bookcase could be in any room in your home for the most part.  A play area could be in a big Family Room lets say and this would have a lot of storage for toys and such, yet still fit in with your decor.  I love the chalkboard paint on the doors….super smart idea.
This playroom could be every little girls dream come true.  How sweet is this room or what?  I love it all.  From the paint wood on the walls, to the chandlier, to the cute bird houses hanging, to the great storage & those absolutely adorable paper & cork boards hanging on the wall.  It’s all so sweet.  Love the table, chairs & rug too.
Storage and a place for story time….how sweet is that.
I completely adore this idea for a cute little reading place or even a place to hide.  It’s a hula hoop with fishing wire.  What a great idea.  Add pillows and you are done.  Inexpensive project for your little one.  It could be used for a boy or girl depending on the fabric you use.  Customize it to your childs likes.
Another great playroom with storage, seating and lots of texture even.  Love the different pillow patterns and the bamboo roman shades.
So let’s here about what you have in your playrooms!

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Have a great day! I would love to hear your comments, so please leave one if you want. I love sharing and inspiring others, but I also love feed back and sharing of others ideas and thoughts. :)

Weekend Bloggy Reading

What Inspired Me for Our Family Room

For inspiration I always start with the internet and some magazines.  Here are sites & magazines I love to check out.  Decorpad is usually the first place I start.  You can just scroll through the pictures or you can search by color.  Coastal Living is a great place to check out if you are looking for that modern yet beachy room design.  BHG is always a great site or magazine to check out for inspiration.  I would also do Google searches for images to look through.

I just kept saving everything that inspired me, to my computer and then as I found other pictures or ideas that I liked more, I would just deleted the ones I didn’t want anymore.  It was a great way for me to organize my thoughts and plan for this room.  Most of these pictures are from Decorpad.com.

In these pictures I loved the dark and light colors in the room.  They feel welcoming, casual, light & airy all at the same time to me.
I was inspired by almost all of this room.  The white furniture, the window treatments, the casual feel to the room, the flooring, the rug, the ottoman….it was all about the dark & light color and textures in all of these rooms.
Then I came across this picture and that is where the blue in the room came from.  Again with the dark and light colors in this room.  I was draw to it, so I knew that I had to have it.  When you are searching the internet or magazines for inspiration, you usually keep finding inspiration that is similar to each other.  Really look at each picture you have saved and there should be common themes in the pictures.  Pull each picture apart and write down all the things you like or don’t like.  Great way to figure out what you want in your own room.  The paint chips on the right are from Valspar.

This is how I found my ceiling.  I was looking around for ceiling ideas and came across Armstrong’s website.   See our ceiling here.

I found my inspiration for our sofa here.  Plus which flooring to pick.  We went with the top one.
Some other pictures that inspired me.  We bought almost the same table & chairs, but it was from Ikea and for a lot less.  Check out this post for the details.

I put together a Mood Board for our Family Room.  As I collected images and ideas for the room, I had to put them into one place.  It really is a great way to see a room come together, before you buy anything.  For any of you Young House Love fans, yes that is their old Living Room.  I was inspired by their window treatments and of course their light and airy home.
I hope I have inspired some of you in some way.  I love to inspire others to decorate their homes.  Remember that most of the time there is a cheaper version of what you might love that is too expensive.  Search around.  There are so many great places to buy decent furniture for great prices and you can also pick up inexpensive decor in all of these places too {JCPenny, Ikea, Target, Home Goods}.   Happy shopping everyone.
Thank you for stopping by.  I would love to hear from you, so please leave a message or send me an email.  Have a great day everyone!!!
