My Newborn and Joining a De-Cluttering Challenge

Hi everyone!!!  Sorry it’s been such a long time since I have blogged, but between working and being pregnant and getting ready for our first baby….it just took over my life and I didn’t blog.  But I’m going to try to blog more and show you how our house is going to change with our new little one in the house.
Here is our Baby Girl!!!  We are so in love with her.
I’m joining the 91 Day De-Clutter Challenge with Mary from Mary Organizes.  Well I will try my hardest to follow this challenge for 91 days.  I have a newborn in the house right now, so hopefully I will be able to “de-clutter” during nap times.  😉
I don’t have all of these same rooms, but I will try to do something for each of these 13 weeks.  Seems like a really great challenge that we should all do at least once a year to take back our homes.
I will be working on some kitchen cabinets, drawers and my pantry closet this week.  I can’t wait to get rid of some stuff that has been sitting in those areas for way too long.
Are you going to join this challenge?  I would love to see what you de-clutter so leave a message here so I can check out what you de-clutter in your home.  Happy cleaning!!!  :)

Organizing…Moving Things Around

Well we have been ramping up for a “Garage Sale” this weekend and I have been purging left and right around here.  I just can’t take it anymore, so it has to go.  Stuff is priced to sell.  If it doesn’t sell then it will go off to The Salvation Army and not back into our home.

Here is one spot in our home office that really needed to be cleaned out.  I have an old armoire from my Grandma that I use to store home decor in mostly, but it has gotten out of hand at this point.  Before I took this picture you couldn’t even see the cookbooks because they were behind a pile of candles and such.  Sorry I didn’t take a picture before that.  But really these cookbooks were not doing me any good in the office.  So I reorganized the condiments cabinet in the kitchen and added the cookbooks in the kitchen.  I know crazy place to have cookbooks right?  ha ha.  I just never felt there was enough room in the kitchen and that is why they were in the office, but I never used them because they were in the office.

Here is the cabinet in the kitchen that I reorganized to fit the cookbooks.
Before
After
I moved the top shelf up higher and only put little things up there that I don’t use too often so that I could fit all the cookbooks on the second shelf.
All of my fresh dried condiments there were just in baggies on the top shelf before are now in cute little jars that I picked up at Ikea months ago.  What? What did you think those baggies were full of anyway on the top shelf?  ha ha
Plus these little guys hold all my cookbooks upright now.  There are four of those little jars.  Two are behind the two in front.

Here are those spice jars I used.

Let’s check out some other kitchen organization that I need or want to put into my kitchen cabinets.

I really want a knife tray inside of my draw.  I have knifes just laying around in a draw organizer, so they are separate from other things, but we always have to be careful when we take one out.  Not a good thing.  This knife tray will help organize the draw more and it will also be safer when we are looking for a knife.

Rationell Variera Insert Spice Jar holder @ Ikea for $3.99

I would love this plate holder….now only if I had cabinet drawers for this sort of stuff.  Oh to dream.  Ikea, I wish I knew about your great kitchens before I redid my kitchen 5 years ago.  Maybe in the future if I have the chance to remodel, there will be big deep drawers for plates and pots and pans.  Only a dream for right now.

Rationell Variera Plate Holder @ Ikea for $9.99

Now this is something that I could really use in my kitchen.  It’s a pot lid organizer.  It seems that you can make it shorter or longer to hold more or less lids.  Love it.  This piece will be going on my list to get for the kitchen.

Kitchen Organizational Ideas from my Pinterest Board.

I need to do this with my cabinet that has all of my serving stuff.

Love the storage for the pot lids.

Gotta have your under cabinet sink organized too right?  😉

These are dollar store spice jars.  Cheap and cute.

This is why I love Ikea kitchens so much.  Such an awesome idea.

What have you organized in your kitchen or in your home lately?  Spill the beans because everyone would love to hear about your organization too.  Leave a story or a link in the comment area.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!!!  Have a great weekend!!!  :)

Getting It All Together

Yup I’ve been getting it all together for…..
IHeart Organizing
I’ve been shopping around for all the right pieces for this challenge and here is what I have put together so far.  Check out the gorgeous white tray under all the stuff, just bought it from Pier 1.  Love it…..now I have to find a place for it.
Bought some index dividers with pockets.  Same ones that Jen from iheartorganizing bought for her Family Binder.  I loved them so much, I just had to have them.  Plus I love to shop at Target and so does Jen.
I bought these Dry Erase markers for my Pantry & Freezer list that I’m going to laminate and hang on the side of my frig.  I think that is what will work for our home.  So I figured we would give it a try.  {Target}
And here are the fun magnets that are going to hold up the laminated Pantry & Freezer lists.  {Target}
Bought a 3 hold punch.  {Target}
 I also bought this gorgeous paper for another binder that I’m putting together.  {Michael’s}
Here are both of the binders I will be using.  The pretty green & white one is going to be the Family Binder and the other one that I will make pretty will be for all the recipes I print out.

Now I just have to finish putting the Family Binder together.  I need to make labels for each tab and finish printing out the lists that I think will work for our home.  Can’t wait to finish this challenge so that I can feel more organized at home.
Thanks for stopping by.  I would love to hear from you, so please leave a message.  Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Organizing The Office

I have been soooo inspired by iHeart Organizing lately.  Jen has an awesome organizing blog and she is very inspirational to so many people.  And she makes organizing stylish too.  Thanks Jen!!!
I decided I needed to continue to organize my home office after I took Jen’s Monthly Challenge in January for her “Project Paper” challenge.  Check out this post here.  That was the kick in the butt I needed to get my home office organized.  Thanks Jen. IHeart you and your blog.
So I decided to take on one area of the home office at a time.  First I tackled my cubbie/drawer area.  I have had these pieces in so many different configurations over the years and they are still functional, so we will keep them for now.  They hold so much stuff it’s great for storage and just a little bit of decor display area.
So what do you think?  Here is the before and after pictures.  I took everything out of the top cubbies and just sorted through and made piles.  Keep, Toss & Garage Sale.  Then the “Keep” pile went back in, more organized this time and I was done.  All the drawers have cloths type of stuff in them.  Some hats, scarves & gloves in three drawers {they are small drawers}, one electronic drawer & the big drawer on the bottom holds some extra towels.
The Before and After of the two door cubbies.
I have two more cabinets in this room that I need to organize.  One that holds lots of bathroom type of stuff, but that is a small cabinet and the other cabinet is my Grandmothers armoire, which is large and holds lots of decor.  I will make this armoire my main hub for extra decor that I change out through the year.  It will be a great place to house everything I have and hopefully some extra stuff too.  So stay tuned for that post hopefully in a few weeks.
Thanks for stopping by.  I would love to here from you, so please leave me a message or send me an email if you want with any questions or comments.
